Pitti Palace
[edit]Hi MajoraZ! Yes it is ok to improve descriptions and categories in photos. I usually do multiple uploads so it is hard for me to be very specific on single images. The website of Florence state collections is this one: [1]. The object you look for is this one, or this or this. I lknow it is not easy to find items there. You can search by museum, meterial or otbject type. The website is not much user friendly, it is just in Italian and sometimes it is not easy to guess how an item was catalogued there, so sometimes you need to browse a long list. I am open for photo requests. The item you asked is here: File:Bottega messicana e francese, maschera con testa d'uomo, in turchese con montatura in argento, smalti e diamanti, 1600-25 circa.jpg. I recently uploaded all I had from Pitti palace, so it is likely that images are already online. I also made a private category of objects photos I uploaded by type, like Category:Photographs_of_pre-Columbian_artifacts_by_User:Sailko_-_Glyptics, have a look if it may help your research. Thank for fixing descriptions and categories around. I appreciate :) Sailko (talk) 07:21, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for the response (Just for my own reference, this is a continuation of https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Jean-Fr%C3%A9d%C3%A9ric#c-MajoraZ-20240717212900-Sailko-20240707144800)
- And thank you for the catalog links, the website I was looking at I guess is a different collection listing that's not as complete?
- If you are ever interested in going back and taking more photos, let me know and we can discuss details: I'd be happy to compensate you for taking the time to do so, same for maybe attending some other museums in Italy that have objects i'm interested in.
- (Also, if you happen to know anybody who may have contacts at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut, let me know, there's some images they have of pieces I wanted to inquire about)

- I think the website you looked has just a selection of works, not complete. I can go back to Pitti Palace, once a month is free entrance, so if you have a specific request let me know. Please note that in the Treasury the last time I went the second floor was visible only by appointment (where the mexican artifacts are), so it could be a bit more difficult to see that specific items now. But I can try. Link my name when you answer so I will be notified. Thanks --Sailko (talk) 13:54, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
